The second annual YWCP Treble Choir Festival, “Creating Harmony,” will bring the world-renowned clinician Anthony Trecek-King to San Francisco to work with local and international choirs for two days. At the Festival concert, each chorus will have the opportunity to sing its own selections, and Dr. Trecek-King will conduct the massed choir of 230 singers in heartfelt songs from African-American traditions. Choirs featured this year include groups from Canada and Marin, as well as two of YWCP's choirs. This concert is free to the public and we invite anyone interested in choral music to attend!
Folk-inspired repertoire will transport concertgoers to rural villages and back to our exciting concert venue. Music by known composers such Kodály, Bartok, and Vaughan-Williams as well as other contemporary settings of folk tunes, will be heard. The finale of YWCP’s year of remarkable musical growth, this Spring Showcase Concert features our four performing ensembles: Prelude Chorus, Allegro Chorus, Allegro Ensemble and the Young Women’s Chorus.
We couldn’t ask for better ambassadors to Europe than our Young Women’s Chorus who embark this June on a concert tour to Slovenia, Austria and Hungary. Their tour send-off concert features the apt American hymn “How Can I Keep from Singing?” and sacred and secular music from all three European countries, with works by Haydn, Schubert, Kodaly, Jez and Gyöngyösi. In addition, expect lots of Americana, including folk music, jazz and traditional spirituals.
The Young Women’s Chorus joins forces with San Francisco Conservatory Chorus and the Lund University Men’s Chorus to perform one of the greatest masterworks of the twentieth century with world-renowned conductor, Esa-Pekka Salonen and his Philharmonia Orchestra of London.
Celebrate with YWCP, composers and guest artists on the release of our debut album, Rejoice!
Allegro Ensemble and the Young Women’s Chorus perform for the San Francisco Symphony’s annual concerts for families.
Join our premiere chorus, the Young Women’s Chorus of San Francisco, for an awe-inspiring, candle-lit evening of holiday music. Michael Haydn’s Magnificat, and music by Gyöngyösi, Kodály, Szymko, Sibelius, Levine and others will be featured, as well as many carols for chorus and audience.
